Sports medicine includes physicians whose field of interest includes the examination and management of sports injuries, both in the clinic and in the field. They are known for their knowledge of all aspects of physical activity.
This knowledge is not limited to the sports world but applies equally to the world of work, sector with its share of injuries, including repetitive motion injuries.
In order to act effectively, the sports doctor works in collaboration with other health professionals. It must also make the link between the rapid expansion of knowledge in the field of medicine and their clinical applications for the patient. Being a physician above all, he will also eliminate the presence of underlying pathology that may affect the health of the patient.
Our physicians are not part of the Régie d’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ). As such, if you use our professional services, you will have to pay directly for the services we will provide you. You will not be able to claim or obtain from the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec the reimbursement of the cost of the services you have paid. The health insurance card is not accepted but we will provide you with a receipt for your eligible medical expenses for the purposes of the tax credit. We accept credit cards, debit cards and cash as payment methods.
The regulations concerning health insurance card coverage for incidental expenses or ultrasound performed by radiologists in clinics apply to physicians affiliated with the RAMQ (under the public plan). In order to avoid any confusion, we wish to remind you that the doctors of the Chiromedic Center / Clinique de médecine sportive de l’Avenir are disaffiliated. They are non-participants in the RAMQ (private practice).
Please also note that we cover cases related to the CNESST or the SAAQ.
We would also like to point out that most of our physicians are sports and exercise doctors with the certification of the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise as well as the certificate of additional competence in Sports and Exercise Medicine of the CFPC.
This new treatment is produced from a blood sample taken from the patient. It makes it possible to concentrate two plasma proteins which are involved in blocking the production of substances that are toxic to the cartilage inside the joint. It has been available in Canada since the spring of 2019 and would provide relief for up to 2 years after a single injection in certain patients. The Sports Medicine Clinic of L’Avenir is proud to have been one of the first clinics in Canada to offer it as an option to its patients who had failed initial treatments.
If pain persists and you need help, our multidisciplinary team will be able to get you back on track quickly.
